Brother Calpin Hoffman-Williamson went to Ghana last summer and just came back in December.  He had a lot of really cool recorded music from the churches there and a lot of pictures from inside the churches and the people he got to know.  I was incredibly jealous and like to pretend like I know a lot about Ghana too even though i don't because i was only there for 8 days.  But anyway I tried to lend my creative abilities by painting and collaging some of the photos he had from his trip.  I was hoping to highlight the importance of the interior of the churches and also illuminate how beautiful the buildings, settings, and faces were.

I don't know where this one is coming from but i found a picture of a factory on fire in philadelphia.  There are fire engines and wires all around it and it's actually a very pretty image.  The smoke just looks so full and calm.  So i found the picture and brought it back home and since then i've been seeing a lot of landscapes on fire in the backgrounds of my dreams.

I had a nightmare one night because i couldn't breath very well.  And in the nightmare i was in one of those zoo exhibits with waterfalls and fake cliffs and foliage and i was trying to get out of the water because i couldn't swim and then i got up on the cliffs and was watching the coyotes fighting each other and then i got scared they were going to try to fight me and win. But then they walked up to me and just nudged their bellies into my face and i was afraid they'd push me off the cliff i'd just got up on and then i woke up.
